Five Tracks,
One Championship,
Forty Years of History.

VMRA's 2026 calendar stretches from the Superspeedway of the West at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Washington, all the way east to Stateline Speedway on the Idaho border. Five purpose-built short-track ovals. Three states. One vintage modified championship. Here's what each track is, what makes it distinct, and what VMRA drivers are chasing when they unload there.

West-side racing opens the season at Tri-City in April, then moves to Evergreen. Mid-season the tour crosses the Cascades to Wenatchee Valley and Stateline for the east-side summer swing, with South Sound hosting the 40th Anniversary Bash in late July. Each track adds a different chapter to the championship — long, fast, and wide at Evergreen; tight, technical, and nose-to-tail at Stateline.

Evergreen Speedway

Monroe, WA · Snohomish County Fairgrounds
"The Superspeedway of the West." — David Pearson

The only NASCAR-sanctioned track in Washington and the crown jewel of the VMRA calendar. Built as a horse track in 1954 and paved in 1963, Evergreen's 5/8-mile outer oval is oversized for a short track — drivers describe it as the fastest half-hour of their season. Inside that 0.625-mile oval sit a 3/8-mile oval, a 1/5-mile oval, a drag strip, and the #2-ranked figure-eight track in America.

For VMRA, Evergreen means wide racing lines, tire-wear strategy, and heat races that genuinely sort the field. Kyten Jones has made his career here. Defending champs have won here; rookies have lost championships here.

Evergreen is where the championship points spread usually widens. VMRA visits four times in 2026 — Grocery Outlet Night (Apr 25, Round 2), the CARS Tour Mark Galloway Shootout (Jun 27, Round 4), Tire Pros Summer Showdown (Aug 15, Round 7), and NASCAR Championship Night (Sep 19, Round 9). First big-venue test is Apr 25.
§ Track 02 · Washington

South Sound Speedway

Rochester, WA · Southwest Washington
"The fastest short track of its kind on the West Coast."

Opened in 1971 as the Olympia-Tenino Speedway, South Sound is the track that made vintage modified racing a VMRA staple. Wikipedia lists "NW Vintage Modified" as one of the track's core hosted divisions — alongside Late Models, Hobby Stocks, Legends, and sprint cars. It's not an exaggeration to say this track has been a home for the club.

The 3/8-mile paved oval was repaved in 2001 and the backstretch wall pushed back, dropping lap times immediately. Notable alumni who raced here: Greg Biffle, Ron Hornaday Jr., Derrike Cope, and the Cope sisters (who trained here as teenagers).

Tri-City Raceway

West Richland, WA · Columbia Basin
Home of the Apple Cup and the Fall Classic.

The Columbia Basin's premier short track and VMRA's eastern Washington anchor. Tri-City opens the season with the 57th Apple Cup every April — one of the highest-profile events on the VMRA calendar — then closes it with the Fall Classic championship weekend in October.

For teams making the trip over the Cascades, the Apple Cup weekend is the season opener, and the Fall Classic is where the title is decided. Tri-City rewards mechanical consistency and patience over raw speed.

Wenatchee Valley Super Oval

East Wenatchee, WA · Apple Country
"Apple Blossom Rubber Down." — VMRA spring anthem

A quarter-mile paved oval deep in the Columbia Basin's apple country. The tightest east-side track on VMRA's 2026 calendar outside of Stateline — fast rhythm, short drafts, and a floor set by spring temps that test setups built for the cooler west-side races.

Part of the Tri-State Challenge Series circuit (alongside Stateline and Tri-City). Wenatchee gets two VMRA visits in 2026 — the May opener and an August return — bookending the east-side swing.

Stateline Speedway

Post Falls, ID · On the WA/ID border
"Racing every Friday & Saturday, April through September."

The tightest track on the VMRA schedule — a 1/4-mile paved oval that rewards a completely different driving style from Evergreen's 5/8-mile. At Stateline, corner entry and patience matter more than raw horsepower. The drafts are short. The passes are usually dive-bombs.

Officially branded as MØDE Stadium Stateline Speedway in recent seasons, the track sits right on the Washington-Idaho state line outside Post Falls. Part of the Tri-State Challenge Series. Family-friendly with a strong local following — kids 5 and under are free to all motorsports events.

VMRA's Idaho stop is the Ron Rohde Memorial (Round 5, Jul 11 — non-points special). The tightest track on the schedule means a different kind of race — traffic, patience, and heat-race running order matter more here than anywhere else on tour.
